Why do we test for scripting support? Basic Scripting Support is central to much of the web today. Almost all pages on commercial websites contain embedded scripts that conform to the new international 'ECMA' script standard, or one of the older standards, such as Netscape's JavaScript or Microsoft's JScript. (ECMA combines elements of both, and is becoming the single standard for web scripting.) Many search engines, some DHTML, most ad banners, and overall many, many elements of web sites are controlled by scripts. BT2K's automated testing also uses simple scripts. All in all, scripting is a vital component of the web experience. BT2K's Level One examines basic scripting support: It checks to see that your browser supports scripting, and that scripting support is enabled.
